Tips for a photo that gets accepted
  • Stand about 1 m from a wall, face a window or soft light — no shadows on your face.
  • Ask someone to take it at eye level, from about 1.2 m away. Selfies at arm's length distort the face.
  • Include your head and the top of your shoulders, with space above your head.
  • Neutral face, mouth closed, eyes open, hair away from your eyes. Remove glasses.

Tips for a clean background change

  • Stand a step away from the wall so there's no shadow behind your head.
  • Use even, soft light from the front — a window works well.
  • Tie back loose hair; fine flyaway strands are the hardest part to cut out.
  • Wear clothes that contrast with the new background (avoid white shirts on a white background).

Frequently asked questions

How do I change my photo background to white?

Upload your photo above. The background is removed automatically and replaced with the colour your document needs. Choose “White” if you want plain white.

Can I make a passport photo with a blue background?

Yes — choose “Custom” under Background and pick blue. Note that almost all passports and visas need white or light grey; blue and other colours are mostly used for some ID cards, exam, school and job forms. Check your form's rules.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Background removal runs inside your browser, on your own device. The photo is never sent anywhere.
