Tips for a photo that gets accepted
  • Stand about 1 m from a wall, face a window or soft light — no shadows on your face.
  • Ask someone to take it at eye level, from about 1.2 m away. Selfies at arm's length distort the face.
  • Include your head and the top of your shoulders, with space above your head.
  • Neutral face, mouth closed, eyes open, hair away from your eyes. Remove glasses.

How to use it

  1. Enter the print size your form asks for, e.g. 35×45 mm, 3.5×4.5 cm or 2×2 inch.
  2. Add the pixel size and file size limit if you need to upload the photo, e.g. 600×600 px, under 100 KB. Leave them empty if you only need prints.
  3. Set the head size if your rules give one. Otherwise we use a standard passport-style framing.
  4. Upload your photo, choose the background colour, check the preview and download.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the size I need?

Look at the photo section of your application form, the embassy or visa centre checklist, or the upload page of the online portal. It usually lists the print size (for example 35×45 mm), the pixel size (for example 600×600 px) and a file size limit (for example under 100 KB).

What if the form only gives pixels?

Enter any print size with the same shape (for a square, use 2×2 inch; for 4:5 use 40×50 mm), then type the pixels in the digital size fields. The digital download will be exactly that many pixels.

What does head size mean?

The height of your head from the chin to the top of the head, as a percentage of the photo height. Most passport-style photos use 70–80%; square photos use 50–69%. If your rules give it in mm, divide it by the photo height — e.g. 34 mm on a 45 mm photo is 76%.

Can I use a blue or red background?

Yes. Choose “Custom” under Background and pick any colour. Some ID cards and university or exam forms ask for blue, red or other colours.

How do I get the file under the KB limit?

Enter the limit in the file size box. The tool compresses the photo until it fits, keeping as much quality as possible.
